RSSHub generates RSS feeds for sites that no longer publish them, which is most of them. That sounds narrow until you notice what it enables: a feed is a stable, machine-readable interface, so it is the cleanest way to pipe sources into anything downstream — a reader, a summariser, a knowledge base. Self-hosting keeps the list of what you follow private, which a hosted reader cannot offer. The maintenance reality is that routes break when sites change, so treat it as infrastructure you occasionally tend.
